My Journey to the Wizarding World.

My Journey to the Wizarding World.
I can honestly say until last week I have never picked up a Harry Potter book. My journey to the Wizarding World started just a year ago; quite by accident when a family getaway turned into food poisoning for my Husband and I. The kids take a trip to the pool and we turned on the TV to find the only thing worth watching was on Freeform Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.

Three of my children had binge-watched the movies and read all the books but I had not gotten bitten by the J.K. Rawling bug, as of yet. I had heard plenty about the books from working for years at a local used book store and my own children to read the books and watch the movies, but I did not see the appeal.

I have from several years read fantasy science fiction books. I even a fan of fantasy teen because of Bryan Davis. I also had read Sherrilyn Kenyon, Alyssa Day and Piers Anthony It isn't that I did not love the idea of witches and wizards or magic. I am a huge fan of fantastical creatures. I just could not get into the idea of reading a series about a little boy who parents had died and he must go to a special school where he finds his true self. Honestly had zero appeal to me.

Then last summer when an innocent enough lunch turns me and my husbands stomach against us and we had to rest and sent the kids to the pool to play so we can get a nap. We both took medicine and turned on the TV and laid down an on the bed and nothing was on TV. Absolutely nothing worth watching but on Freeform, Harry Potter Marathon is on and Half-Blood Prince is fixing to come on. I thought well if it sucks I can go to sleep and it will not matter. This was my first time to sit through the entire Harry Potter movie. I fell in love. The characters were intriguing and the story was far more complex than I first believed.

The first things I was going to do is binge watch all the movies. Which turned out to be a wonderful idea, because I was getting the theatrical view of the characters and I knew there had to be more to know. I went to the Pottermore website and took the quizzes just to see what they would say. I found out I am a Hufflepuff, Cherry Wood Wand with a Phoenix Feather and a Bay Stallion Patronus.  I was surprised by how much information was out there about J.K. Rawling Harry Potter Series. I read every article and interview J.K. Rawling was involved in. The one night when going through Netflix there was Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. I just had to turn it on. I absolutely adored Newton Scamander and his job as a Magizoologist. I found the idea that you travel the world and study Fantastical Creatures.  I picked up my first J.K. Rawling Book. Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them.

This leads me to last week when I made the decision to read my second J.K. Rawling book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I truly understand why everyone was on me for so about reading those books. I would recommend after my own journey to try something new in literature to go out and find something new. It is possible that books are far deeper than the story of the boy who lived.
