The Long Lost Exit Home by Chris Roberts is 402 pages long. The story begins with headlines describing a massive earthquake. Also reported is a crazed serial killer that is mutilating females. The point in the story the point of view changes to a woman hooking up with a man as she is listening to the news report about the serial killer she is being killed by the serial killer. That was a truly spooky scene in this book. Then all of a sudden a sewer worker is being killed by an alien, yes from outer space alien in the sewer line when he is checking for damage from the earthquake. Chris Roberts leaves you on the seat of your pants wondering where he is taking you on this wild ride plot. The research and imagination that Chris Roberts shows in his story left me very impressed. Each of his characters brings a unique perspective to the overall plot and the way he ties it altogether surprised me.
At times I did find Chris could be over detailed which slowed down the plot is some places, that could take away from the overall story. I found this more in the first few chapters not so much in the later chapters. This book will introduce you to a wider range of emotions introducing you just not just horror, sci-fi but also death destruction, addiction, and sexual violence. It engages you and you have to finish this story.
