Review: Yesterday by Samyann
Yesterday wrote by Samyann and is 404 pages long fiction novel. This was my first book written by Samyann, that I had read. I was greatly impressed by the writing and plot of the storyline. Samyann broaches a topic in many cultures of reincarnation. It also tackles how previous lives affect our today.
Yesterday is a novel of love, loss and a powerful sense of deja-vu. A handsome Chicago policeman and the beautiful young woman who saves his life.
Everyone Amanda Parker has ever loved has died prematurely, most recently her fiance. A fear of commitment based on a life of tragedy is Amanda destiny or so she believes. Then Amanda saves Mark Callahan from being crushed to death by a falling elevated train in Chicago's loop.
Yesterday is also the tragic journey of a little girl escaping the South during the American Civil War, a harrowing tale of disaster, devotion and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Bonnie has a journey of her to find her way through the Civil War, her trip North to escape the war and to find her new life without her parents and everything she knows.
Mark Callahan is a Chicago Police Officer and all he knows is he loves Amanda with all he is. He supports he wants the truth about her past. He just wants to be enough because all that matters is the life they are living now. Can he convince Amanda that the truth of the past should not decide their future?
You can tell by the writing, editing, and grammar errors that this book was self-published. Do not let that affect you choosing to read this book. I found the story and plot very delightful. Samyann has a unique writing style that should not be missed. I was surprised on how much I truly enjoyed the book even though reincarnation is not one of my favorite topics of fiction or non-fiction but the way the topic was approached was so unique that I felt like I was living the lives just as the character and it made you invest in the characters and their stories.
I rated the story a 3 out of four. I found the overall book appealing but I found the grammar errors, run on sentences and the wordy places of the book took away from the overall enjoyment of the book. Do not let this take 3 out of 4 as not a recommendation to read this book minus the errors it is overall a wonderful read.
