Review: Twilight's Last Glory by Stephen C. Perkins

Stephen Perkins begins his tale, with Maddox throwing the football with the newly signed Quarterback, Solomon Cruz for the New England Rebels. As Maddox is a mentor and friend to Solomon. Solomon finds himself probing Maddox of the old days and an old player renowned Billy Ray. Maddox feels it is time to speak the truth and warns Solomon that it will change the way he feels about the game.
"True victory for a champion, better than winning the Summit Cup, would be for him to get up this afternoon live on CBSPN, and from the bottom of his champion's soul tell everyone about what he's learned, turn this game on it's head and try to change the World for the better."
This was an interesting tale. I am not normally a huge fan of football but I can see how this book can appeal to both fans and not fans of the game. This is a deep and complex book full of intense characters and a layered plot. This is not a light read which by in no means you should not read it but it is a story that should be read and unfolded a little at a time that leads you to a place that needs to be broached and points out there is far more to the game than just the players playing the game. I was surprised where the story goes but nothing is beyond the possibilities with this tale.
